Migrants from Uzbekistan to build rail links in Russia

Migrant workers from Uzbekistan will be hired to build rail links and railway infrastructure in Russia, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan said, AKIPress reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Russian Railway Company Chairman Oleg Belozerov discussed transport and logistics cooperation, prospects of joint major projects on construction of transport infrastructure.

The Russian Railway Company is ready to participate in construction of Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshwar railway, Oleg Belozerov said.

This railway link will alow to shorten time and cost of freight transportation from East and South Asia to CIS and Europe by 30%.

The agreement was reached that Russian design institutes having experise and skills in designing such rail inks will participate in preparation of feasibility study for the project and mechanisms of its financing.

The sides reached agreement on joint preparation for phased resumption of regular railway passenger transportation upon normalization of COVID-19 situation.
