Mikhail Kotyukov to Vestnik Kavkaza: Caucasus receives our close attention

Russia's Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotyukov, speaking with Vestnik Kavkaza, told about the ministry's plans for the development of science in the North Caucasus.

"While working with the Academy, we paid a lot of attention to the North Caucasus. Not to mention regular retreats, we did serious work on reorganizing research institutes. Today we have a North Caucasian Agrarian Science center with the base institution in Stavropol and units in different regions. We have a unique observatory in Arkhyz, one of the best in the world.A very ambitious scientific project is being implemented in the Baksan Gorge, which, if it all works out, may receive the highest international recognition," the minister said.

"Now we are faced with the task of forming a research and educational center in the North Caucasian Federal District, which should be created as part of national projects. It will include scientific organizations and universities. Now we are considering what jurisdictions can be involved and which industrial partners will take part in the project. The North Caucasus receives our close attention, and there will be quite positive changes in the scientific and educational sphere," Mikhail Kotyukov assured.
