Mikhail Malkin reaches tumbling event finals at European Championships in Baku

Azerbaijani gymnast Mikhail Malkin reached the tumbling event finals at the 26th European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling in Baku. 

According to the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, Malkin ranked fourth following the qualification with 75.7 points.

Russian Vadim Afanasyev holds the lead after the qualification round in with 78.3 points. Another Russian gymnast Maxim Shlyakin was second with 76.3 points, Denmark's Rasmus Steffensen with 75.9 points was third.

Kristof Willerton (Great Britain, 75.7 points), Adam Matthiesen (Denmark, 75 points), Greg Townley (Great Britain, 74.7 points) and Dmitry Novoselov (Belarus, 68.4 points) also reached the tumbling event finals.

Russian Alexander Lisitsyn, the British Eliot Brown and Kallum Mulhall, Denmark's David Erbes and Anders Wesch performed better than Dmitry Novoselov, but did not reach the final because only two athletes can represent one country.

The 26th European Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline has opened in Baku today. More than 400 gymnasts from 25 countries are expected to join the Championships. In the first two days of the competitions, qualifications for all types of events both among junior and senior gymnasts as well as finals among teams will be held, on the last day, medalists will be known in all four types of the gymnastics events.
