Russia's Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev said on Tuesday that a situation with mortality among patients with COVID-19 remains difficult in the country.
"Unfortunately, despite all the measures - yes, we see that the situation has improved, the situation has stabilized, some people have been ill, some people have been vaccinated, - we see a fairly high mortality rate among patients," he said at a plenary meeting in the State Duma.
The representative of the Ministry of Health emphasized that the pandemic cannot be defeated without systemic vaccination.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 124 500 patients with coronavirus have died in Russia. The total number of infected is 5,145,843, thus the mortality rate is 2.42%.
