The Canadian team came to the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku to gain experience, the coach of the Canadian national rhythmic gymnastics team Mira Filippova said, speaking to the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.
"It's our first time in Baku, we liked the city and the wonderful organization of the tournament very much. We are happy to present our routines: one will be accompanied by Spanish music and the second by funk and rap music - it's very unusual for gymnastics, but I hope that spectators and judges will appreciate it and like choreography. We always take risks when choosing music, because it is a very subjective thing,"she said.
"Our goal is to perform without mistakes, emotionally and simply enjoy the performance. We came to gain experience, and then everything depends on the competitions. I hope we will be lucky," Mira Filippova said.
The Canadian gymnasts especially liked the National Gymnastics Arena. "Baku has a very beautiful and simply magnificent hall. There is no such a big hall and such a wonderful infrastructure in Canada. Sports development in Azerbaijan is excellent - there are so many places where you can train. We love it here," the coach of the Canadian national rhythmic gymnastics team admitted.
The FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup will be held in Baku on April 28-30. Participation of 94 gymnasts from 21 countries is expected in the event, 37 of them in the individual program and 57 - as the ten group teams. Athletes will compete for 8 medal sets.
