The leader of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, positively assessed the signing of an agreement on the railway infrastructure's construction. It will connect China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. According to him, the signing that took place on Thursday is historic.
"This railway will become the shortest land route connecting China with our region. In the future, this road will allow access through the promising Trans-Afghan corridor to the capacious markets of the countries of South Asia and the Middle East",
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Mirziyoyev also noted that the project would create tens of thousands of jobs and increase the scale of cooperation between countries.
In turn, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, who also took part in the ceremony via video link, noted that this initiative would become the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative adopted in China in the last decade. The initiative envisages the creation of a large-scale trade infrastructure that will cover most of Eurasia.
