Mogherini: U.S. still closest partner of EU, despite divergences

European Union Foreign Affairs Ministers confirmed that the United States have been closest partner of the EU, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Federica Mogherini said at the press conference following the informal meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers.

"The second point on the agenda yesterday was related to the Transatlantic relations, which is a key pillar of the European Union foreign policy. The United States are the closest partners and friends we have always had and that does not change; that continues," she noted.

"There are some issues on which we have clear divergences and we are very clear and frank on this. But there are also many other on which our cooperation continues to be excellent and key for the success of our common work," Mogherini stressed,cited DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] as an example.
