The EU intends to cooperate with the new Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on countering the regional and international challenges and to implement the aspects of the fight against immigration crisis, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and the EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, said in a joint statement.
They congratulated the new Prime Minister for the nomination and said that it "comes at an important moment not only for Turkey, but also for the EU-Turkey relationship".
"We look forward to continuing to work together on common regional and international challenges, and to further implement all aspects of our joint partnership, as agreed at the first EU-Turkey summit last November and in the EU-Turkey Statement from 18 March," the statement says.
