Chisinau might send a request to Brussels to join the European Union no later than 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Natalia Gherman, said on the Moldova 1 radio station.
"Moldova needs political stability in order to realize the full plan of the Association Agreement with the EU, to implement all the reforms. I believe that we can apply to join the EU in the framework of the current mandate of the government, which expires in November 2018," RIA Novosti quotes her as saying.
The minister acknowledged that Chisinau has not yet fulfilled its obligations to the European Union. In particular, the country has yet to complete the reform of the judiciary and curb corruption.
