More than 2.2m fans attend 2018 FIFA World Cup matches

A total of 2,178,894 people attended matches during the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

A total of 48 matches have been played in the group stage at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities, Sputnik reported.

FIFA announced on June 21 that it had allocated over 2.6 million tickets. The sales will continue until July 15, when the final match will be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
