The Republic of the Union of the Comoros Islands has announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Iran, Iranian mass media report.
The decision was taken yesterday at a meeting of the government. The Iranian ambassador was required to leave the country as soon as possible.
The severance of diplomatic relations is due to the escalation of the crisis in Iranian-Saudi relations. Earlier, the Comoros recalled its ambassador from Iran, RIA Novosti reports.
