Moscow and Baku await significant growth of economic ties with Tehran

Before Russia and Azerbaijan start cooperation with Iran in many sectors after the removal of sanctions on the Islamic Republic, experts Stanislav Pritchin and Ilham Shaban spoke in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza, commenting on the economic consequences of the closure of the Iranian nuclear dossier for the Caspian region.

Expert of the Center for Central Asia and the Caucasus of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Stanislav Pritchin, recalled that a large number of spheres of Russian-Iranian cooperation had been closed because of the sanctions against Iran.

"Even normal trade cooperation was impossible, our companies could not work in each other's markets or pay by means of non-cash payments due to the fact that Iran was disconnected from the SWIFT system."

These restrictions are to be removed gradually, and this will give us an impetus to develop our relations in many spheres. Firstly, a sudden growth in mutual trade is expected," he concluded.

Pritchin drew attention to the fact that the Iranian embassy in Russia is now actively engaged in attracting Iranian businessmen to the Russian market.

"Many Russian companies are also considering entering the Iranian market, as there are no sanctions from the Western countries, primarily the United States," the expert said.
