Georgia to import grain from Lithuania.

The government of Lithuania has decided to export grain to Georgia,reports Business Georgia. According to the prime minister of Georgia,Nika Gilaury, the export of grain from Lithuania and Ukraine willtotally cover the needs of the country. Negotiations with the USA arealso being held, however.The ambassador of Georgia in Ukraine, Grigol Katamadze, stated that anagreement with Ukraine has been reached and by the end of the year150,000 tons of grain will be imported.Annually, Georgia needs 800,000 tons of grain.

Georgia searches for alternative to Russian wheat

Due to the halting of Russian grain exports, Georgia has started searching for a new supplier, said the president of the company Agrocom, Ketevan Kublashvili, reports Business Georgia. The leading importer says that it is possible to buy grain from Canada or the USA, but it will be much more expensive.Kublashvili said that the situation will affect the cost of bread. The price of Russian grain was 250 dollars a ton and imports from over countries will cost 350-380 dollars a ton.

Yerevan fire service fleet receives Japanese vehicles

The presentation of the new firefighting vehicles granted to Armenia by Japan took place on the square the capital city Yerevan this Wednesday, News-Armenia reports. According to the emergencies minister, Armen Yeritsyan, the new vehicles will help the fire brigades in the capital and in many regions of Armenia. This program is proof of the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.Fire vehicles worth $8 million were delivered by the Japan administration according to an agreement signed in February 2009.

Turkey, Russia and Georgia to open consulates in Gyandzha.

Several states, inclduing Turkey, Russia and Georgia have applied to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan to open consulates in Gyandzha, reports 1news.az, citing the city's web page. City authorities say permission is likely to be granted, but are unable to say when.

Bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Belarus increases.

Bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Belarus hit 79 million dollars in the last six months - 29.4 % more than for the same period last year, says 1news.az, citing the embassy of Belarus in Azerbaijan. "The amount of imports from Azerbaijan has increased  68.1%. Exports have increased 127.8%," the embassy said.

Iran open to uranium exchange based on Turkey, Brazil deal

Belarus pays off debt to Azerbaijan

Belarus has paid off its state debt to Azerbaijan, one that it used topay Gazprom. The debt was to be paid on July 5th but Belarus decidedto pay early, Interfax reports.On June 16th, Russia gave Belarus five days to pay its debt forRussian gas. At the same time Gazprom started reducing gas suppliesproportionally to the size of the debt.

Memorandum on Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline signed

The memorandum on mutual understanding in constructing the Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline, transporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe, has been signed in Ankara, Turkey. According to the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tanner Yildyz, construction should be completed in 2017, the pipeline will supply 11.6 billion cubic m of gas annually, ANS reports.

Azerbaijan and China sign agreement on technical-economic cooperation

Azerbaijani Premier Artur Rasi-Zade has met with member of the Permanent Committee of the Chinese Political Bureau, secretary of the Central Commission of Chinese Communist Party on disciplinary inspection, XI Gocian, on his visit to Baku. The countries signed an agreement on technical-economic cooperation, AzerTag reports.
