Syria intends to continue importing Russian wheat as part of efforts to strengthen and develop bilateral economic cooperation. The matter was discussed during an online meeting between Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Markovich and Maher Khalil al-Hassan, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry in the Syrian government.

Both sides agreed to maintain cooperation and schedule further talks to establish mutually beneficial terms for Russian wheat deliveries. Discussions also touched upon the potential expansion of Russian food and medical exports to Syria.

This follows the first shipment of 6,600 tons of Russian wheat delivered to Syria in April of this year.
