Moscow and Tehran carry out active cooperation on the settlement of situation in the Middle East and North Africa, with belief that the Syrian conflict should be resolved without foreign interference. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on the results of first talks since the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Russia "is interested in increasing our cooperation with Iran to assist in the resolution of various crises in the Middle East, North Africa ... We are convinced that the involvement of our countries in these efforts will bring result, that will meet interests of peoples of the region", - head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
At the same time, Moscow and Tehran believe that the conflict in Syria should be resolved only by the parties involved, without external interference, Lavrov pointed out.
