In 2024, Thailand has become the first in the list of countries, where incidents with Russian travelers occur, as a result of which medical assistance is required, Yulia Alcheeva, Director of the RIS branch of Euroins Travel Insurance said, TASS reports.
"Based on the frequency of insurance claims, Thailand is traditionally among the leaders. The reasons are the humid tropical climate, temperature changes and the environment with bacteria and viruses that tourists encounter",
Alcheeva said.
Various infections and ailments, fractures after accidents with scooters and tuk-tuks are the most common reasons for tourists to make an insurance claim. Since the beginning of the year, many insurance cases have occurred with vacationers in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic.
At Rosgosstrakh, the statistics are similar. Serious cases requiring hospitalization most often occurred in exotic Thailand and India, as well as Türkiye, in 2024. Most people who applied for help under Alfa Insurance policies were in Thailand, Türkiye, and the UAE.
At the same time, insurers clarify that there are few insurance claims in percentage terms in Türkiye. Many times more Russians go to this country on vacation than to other destinations.
