Mukharbiy Ulbashev on tourism in Kabardino-Balkaria

A member of the Federation Council committee on the budget and financial markets, the senator from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Mukharbiy Ulbashev, visited the studio of Vestnik Kavkaza today. Mukharbiy Ulbashev noted that the republic aims to become one of the best health centers in the country due to the large potential in this area. "One of the main tasks set by the leadership of Kabardino-Balkaria and its head Yuri Kokov in the coming years is the creation of high-quality conditions for a comfortable stay for tourists, with the expectation of 1 million visits per year," he said.

The senator recalled the tourist advantages of Kabardino-Balkaria. "Seven five-thousanders are situated in Kabardino-Balkaria, including Elbrus, which is the highest mountain in Europe. There are 11 zones with different specializations in the republic. The mountainous part of the republic contains the largest glaciers of the North Caucasus. Almost everyone can find what he likes in the country," the member of the Federation Council said.

"So, those who like a relaxing and quiet holiday will be interested in the health-improving complex 'Nalchik', the recreational complexes Dzhyly-Su and Aushiger. For example, there are 18 mineral springs on the territory of the 'Nalchik' complex. Active fans of vacations can choose the mountaineering camp Bezengi and  the recreation complex 'Elbrus'. There are also archaeologists and the tourist complex 'Verkhnya Balkaria' and 'Verkhny Cheget', the stunning beauty of the Chegem waterfalls, the Blue Lakes and the Narzan valley, which will introduce you to Kabardino-Balkarian history," Mukharbiy Ulbashev listed.

The senator drew attention to the development of tourist infrastructure in Kabardino-Balkaria. "Now we are actively developing the Elbrus and Cheget zones, putting into operation new chairlifts and equipping and expanding ski slopes," he stressed.

"In the short term, we plan to develop health resorts in Nalchik, including the reconstruction of the mineral springs and replacement of pipelines. It is also planned to create the Zaragizh car tourism cluster," the senator from Kabardino-Balkaria said.

"We plan to construct spa complexes, adjacent to the area of ​​Lake Tambukan, on the border of Kabardino-Balkaria and Stavropol Territory. We have a task not to only build new facilities, but in the first place reconstruct the already existing ones," Mukharbiy Ulbashev said.

The senator pointed out that tourists can visit Kabardino-Balkaria the whole year round. "The Elbrus and Bezengi zones are attractive for tourists both in summer and winter – there are sports tourism, climbing, pure air, sun and beautiful views. The republic is conveniently located: it is in the Central Caucasus, which has an extensive road network, allowing quick access to any point of the republic, if you arrive in Nalchik first. You can also reach the tourist points of the republic through the two closest major airports: Mineralnye Vody (120 km from Nalchik) and Beslan (90 km)," the member of the Federation Council committee on the budget and financial markets concluded.
