The forum of the youth organization of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has recently opened in Baku.
The forum was addressed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and President of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev, who outlined tasks of Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency.
According to him, limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees, climate finance and national emission reduction plans are the main goals of the upcoming COP29.
Babayev mentioned that it is impossible to build a climate change-resistant world without resolving these issues.
The COP29 will be held in Azerbaijan on November 11-22, 2024. Within two weeks, Baku will host more than 70,000 foreign guests.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate system. A total of 198 countries are parties to the convention.
