Muslim holy month of Ramadan starts today

Muslims around the world celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. This is the 9th month of the lunar calendar, during which the representatives of Islam fast. They voluntarily give up all bad habits, eating, drinking from dawn to sunset, doing good deeds and praying.

The month of Ramadan is of great importance for all Muslims. It was at this time that the Holy Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad. This is the most honourable month, the month of purification, strengthening of the body and will. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam (along with faith in Allah, prayer, purifying cash payment - zakat and pilgrimage to Mecca - hajj).

The first ten days of the holy month bring the believers the mercy and grace of the Almighty, the second - deliverance from sins, and the third - salvation from the fire of hell. In addition, the reward for the good deeds of believers is multiplied. This month,  the Night of Predestination is celebrated on the 27th night of the month (in 2022 it falls on April 28th).

This year, Ramadan began on Saturday, April 2, 2022, the first tarawih prayer was performed the night before, on Friday, April 1. The holy month will end on May 1, 2022, and the very next day, Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr. On this day, they visit relatives, exchange gifts and arrange festive feasts.

The Vestnik Kavkaza team sincerely congratulates all Muslims on the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan and wishes the Almighty to accept all your fasts and good deeds.
