Russian Minister for Sports Vitaly Mutko arrived in Baku to talk to Russian athletes participating in the European Games. Mutko is also scheduled to meet with his counterparts from other countries and attend an opening ceremony of the European Games.
The issue of holding the second edition of the European Games in 2019 in Russia has not been raised, he said.
The event was originally planned to be held in the Netherlands. However, yesterday the National Olympic Committee announced that the Netherlands pulled out of hosting the Games.
"I can say that we are fully engaged with the competitions up to 2020. It is important for us now to focus on the performance at the Games," TASS cited Mutko as saying.
