NATO Secretary General, assessing the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the territory of the Russian Federation, said that this visit is in line with the existing relations between Russia and China.

"China and Russia are getting closer",

he stressed.

Stoltenberg also recalled that Russia and China had previously signed a Joint Declaration. The document provides for "limitless opportunities for cooperation".

Further, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance noted that NATO monitored the rapprochement between the Russian Federation and China in the military, economic and political spheres.

Stoltenberg also commented on the recent statement by US national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who said that China was supplying the Russian Federation with weapons and military equipment. According to the head of NATO, the Alliance's leadership cannot confirm this information.

"We have not seen any evidence that China is supplying lethal weapons to Russia",

he said.
