Naryshkin: crisis doesn't prevent EEU from progressive development

The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is developing steadily despite the global crisis, the Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said during the International Forum 'Eurasian Economic Perspective' in Kyrgyzstan.

"The EEU was established about one year ago," he recalled, noting that the establishment of the Union "is taking place in difficult conditions".

"There was a sharp drop in energy prices, sanctions have been introduced against Russia by Washington and Brussels, the world is shaken by terrorist acts. Nevertheless, our union is progressively developing and seriously mitigates negative processes," the speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament said.

According to Naryshkin, "trade volumes remain, processes of import substitution are developing, including in the high-tech industry".
