Naryshkin says Crimea is excuse for West to express its ideological trash

The reluctance of Western countries to recognize the results of the referendum of the reunification of Crimea with Russia is due to an adherence to the model of the Cold War and a false sense of exclusivity, the Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin told the Izvestia newspaper.

"The US and its NATO allies accuse Russia of pursuing its national interests. The US president raises the thesis of the US 'special rights', calling it "an exceptional country, which defends its common interests," he said.

"It turns out that the so-called sanctions, which have been recently extended without any discussion with the EU, are nothing but crude and outright blackmail taken from the Cold War arsenal," he stressed.

According to him, Crimea is "nothing more than an excuse for the West to bring dusty ideological rubbish into the 21st century world."

The head of the lower house of the Russian Parliament draws attention to the fact that this policy has brought chaos and the collapse of states in entire regions of the world, a surge of international terrorism and massive refugee flows.
