The Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences has joined the development of the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan. The National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has created a Scientific Council on the problems of genetics and breeding of agricultural plants and animals, and a Scientific Council on the problems of land and water resources and the environment, the president of the Academy Akif Alizadeh told.
"In addition, with the support of the Fund for the development of science, the laboratory 'Genomics' was created, the first time this has happened in the region. The laboratory is busy deciphering the genomes of crop plants," Alizadeh pointed out, abc.az reports.
The Academy of Sciences is also conducting interdisciplinary research in the field of agriculture, Alizadeh said.
