During an extended meeting of the government, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has criticized such departments as the Ministry of Investment and Development, the Ministry of National Economy, the Ministry of Finance and mostly the head of the latter department, Bakhyt Sultanov, for improper use of the budget.
If we had an adequate minister of finance, a treasurer, he would watch over every tenge. And you give money to anyone who asks," LS cited Nazarbayev as saying.
The head of state said that the Minister of Finance is the personal representative of the president, who takes care of the state treasury. He asked Sultanov why, when considering applications for funding, the agency had no more demands.
"It is better to appoint Zhamishev to the post, he would not talk with anybody," he noted.
"Maybe some people do not like Zhamishev, even I sometimes do not like him. But he cares about the interests of the state," Nazarbayev stressed.
