Nazarbayev signs agreement on cooperation on emergency situations in Caspian Sea


Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law "On Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation in Prevention and Liquidation of Emergency Situations on the Caspian Sea".


The document regulates the cooperation of the parties in the case of emergency situations of a natural and technogenic nature in the Caspian Sea and includes the following forms of cooperation: the creation and improvement of cooperation in emergency management; the cooperation of the parties in the forecasting and monitoring of emergency situations; informing about the risk of a disaster that could affect the other party; assisting in the liquidation of emergencies and the necessary assistance in equipping of assistance teams; exchange of experience in the organization of training for action in the case of emergency; exchange of information, scientific and technical literature, the results of research and technology in the field of emergency prevention and response.


The agreement was signed by the governments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan in Astrakhan on September 29, 2014, RIA Novosti reports.
