Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China yesterday. The sides have agreed to set up 45 joint facilities, agreements worth $23 billion for 25 of them have already been signed.
Today Nazarbayev held meetings with the heads of leading Chinese corporations - the Secretary General of the interim secretariat of the multilateral Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Jin Liqun, and the head of the China Development Bank, Zheng Zhijie.
Nazarbayev called his visit a turning point in the Kazakh-Chinese relations. He reminded that more than 20 years of active cooperation with China affected mainly energy and resource extraction sectors. Now Astana and Beijing are beginning to intensify cooperation in the manufacturing sectors of the economy, Kazakh President's press service said.
