Tourism arrivals in Iran rose by 41% in 2023, allowing the country to ascend in the global ranking of top destinations, according to the UN Tourism Agency (UNWTO).
The UNWTO in its latest report revealed a considerable growth in the arrival of foreign tourists in Iran, noting that about 6 million foreign tourists visited the country in 2023.
In 2023, 5.9 million foreign tourists visited Iran, while 4.1 million foreign tourists visited the country in 2022.
The increase in foreign tourist arrivalscame just a year after Iran’s tourism industry was revived following the easing of the global coronavirus pandemic.
