Netanyahu: Israel wants to normalize relations with Turkey

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Tel Aviv wants to normalize relations with Ankara. He noted that Israel has always stood up for stable relations with Turkey.

It is worth noting that Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has called his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the first time in many years and the Turkish leader expressed readiness to fight against terrorism together with the Jewish state during a telephone conversation.

The relations between the two countries soured in 2010 after the incident with the 'Freedom Flotilla'.

Erdogan has previously voiced three conditions for the normalization of the relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv. Thus, Israel has to offer a formal apology, pay compensation to families of the victims and to end its Gaza blockade.

"Israel has fulfilled only the first condition out of these three. If the compensation issue and the lifting of the embargo are achieved then we can enter a process of normalization," Trend cited Erdogan as saying.
