Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump after he said it was time to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
"President Trump has just made history. I called him. I thanked him on behalf of the people of Israel. He did it again!" Netanyahu told reporters. "The message that President Trump has given the world is that America stands by Israel," the Guardian cited him as saying.
"At a time when Iran seeks to use Syria as a platform to destroy Israel, President Trump boldly recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Thank you President Trump!" Netanyahu also tweeted.
