New 10 lari banknotes were into circulation today across Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia reported.
On the front of the new banknote there is a portrait of prominent Georgian writer and public figure, Akaki Tsereteli, with a sharper profile as well as an excerpt from the verse of the writer’s ‘gazapkhuli’ (Spring), with his autograph and an image of a swallow.
On the back side is the famous work of Georgian painter and graphic artist, David Kakabadze, ‘Imereti – Mother’. On the upper right corner of the new banknote is the coat of arms of Georgia, Agenda.ge reported.
Bacha Malazonia is the author of the upgraded design.
The 10 GEL banknotes of previous years will remain in circulation.
