New Russian radar station to be built in Azerbaijan?

In 2017, Azerbaijan will start the construction of "Voronezh" radar station, - the official website of "Zvezda" TV channel reports.

Station "Voronezh" - is a much more modern radars, which are designed to detect and track ballistic and cruise missiles, and other aerodynamic objects. Here, both the size and performance characteristics are much more serious: the station can easily look for 6 km along the horizon and 8 kilometers vertically and simultaneously controls up to 500 air targets.

The main feature of "Voronezh" radar is considered to be its high factory readiness. The station consists of 23 sets of equipment, and is mounted for 18-20 months (for comparison - its predecessors "Volga" or "DTV" were built for 5-9 years).

The military experts, meanwhile, stated about the unreliability of "Zvezda" report. Thus, the chief editor of "National Defense" magazine Igor Korotchenko told the Vestnik Kavkaza that this information is not true.

"I can tell you that I held broadcasting with a person who is engaged in a system of missile warning. Broadcats was held this Saturday. He said that all stations "Voronezh" are built exclusively on Russian territory. We do not build any station in Azerbaijan, "- Korochenko said.
