The next round of the Astana format talks on Syria will be held in the fall of this year, Russian Presidential Special Envoy Alexander Lavrentyev said.
"The next round of the Syria talks in the Astana format will take place in the fall of 2022," Lavrentyev told reporters in Nur-Sultan on Thursday.
The Syria talks guarantor countries have offered different opinions regarding a new venue for meetings of the Syrian constitutional committee to replace Geneva, he said.
The finishing touches are now being put on arrangements for a Russia-Iran-Turkey summit, which has long been postponed due to coronavirus-related restrictions, he said.
"Iranian partners have now assured us that the Covid situation in their country is quite normal, and, consequently, they stand ready to host this forum," Lavrentyev said, adding that a data for holding the summit will depend on the schedules of the Russian and Turkish presidents.
