Nigar Arpadarai: Baku is ready for Formula 1

Baku is ready for the Formula 1 European Grand Prix, which is to take place on Baku City Circuit on June 17-19. This was stated by the marketing director of Baku City Circuit Nigar Arpadarai in an interview with a 'Vestnik Kavkaza' correspondent.

"During many years Azerbaijan hosts a variety of activities: sports events, conferences, etc. We organized the Eurovision Song Contest, the First European Games. We built stadiums, hotels, restaurants, roads in Baku. That is why the city is ready. We have created all infrastructure that is why we don't see any problems with the accommodation of foreign tourists and offer them a wide range of rooms: 3-star and 4-star, and 5-star hotels,'' she told.

According Arpadarai organizers are waiting for the Grand Prix around 10,000-12,000 tourists. "We've simplified the procedure for issuing visas throughout the European Grand Prix Formula 1. Any person who has a ticket, or a document that confirms the ticket purchase, as well as accreditation will receive a visa after arrival at the Baku airport. These offices will be opened at the airport on June 1st," marketing director said.

"As for journalists, a media center will work at the Hilton Hotel, and very comfortable conditions will be created there. Now we have accredited 160 representatives of local media, including journalists and photographers," she said, stressing that the organizers seek to create the most comfortable environment for all who attend the race, including teams, media and fans.

Speaking about the readiness state of the track, Nigar Arpadarai reported that preparations are in accordance with the plan. "We have 19 days. Naturally, we're very excited now. This week we have already installed a countdown clock – the clock that ticks the time before the start of the race,'' she said.

According to her, the main work will be completed on June from 14-16 that is why some Baku roads will be closed.

In addition to the highway, construction works continue at the seaside boulevard where the entertainment area will be located. "An entertainment area will be created there. Such international stars as Enrique Iglesias, Chris Brown and Pharrell Williams will perform on the three stages nears the sea. There will be a lot of interesting things: casting for children, show of motorcycles, the Titan robot," Nigar Arpadarai promised.

"Geography of customers is extensive enough: according to the current information, customers from 37 countries of all the continents brought the tickets, about 60% of tickets were bought by foreign fans. It makes us very happy, because it is our goal,'' the marketing director Baku City Circuit concluded.
