Level of today's tournament is comparable to level of the World Championship, president of the Russian Trampoline Federation and head coach of the national team Nikolai Makarov said today in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza at the sidelines the Trampoline & Tumbling World Cup in Baku.
“Baku organizes tournaments at a very good, professional level. It's the first time we have so many countries participating in the World Cup - 32 compared to usual 20-22 countries. There are even more women than at the World Championship, and a little less men. It's a very strong representation, comparable to the World Championship,” he said, adding that interest in the tournament gave athletes opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.
“In addition, it's important to note that when the AGF holds tournaments, it's does everything to make them confortable for athletes and delegations, including when it comes to logistics and transportation, accommodation,. We like to come to Baku, where you don't need to wait for the bus for two hours and where you are always welcome," head coach of the Russian national team believes.
The World Cup in Trampoline and Tumbling is set to run from February 16 to 17 in Baku. Some 200 gymnasts from 30 countries will take part in the championship.
