The spokesperson of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, said that no country is as important to Iran as Azerbaijan.
According to the parliamentarian, the new Iranian Government attaches special importance to the neighbouring countries and Azerbaijan occupies a special place among them. He pointed to the strong ties that exist between Iran and Azerbaijan.
"The Iranian Foreign Ministry is working to remove all obstacles to strengthening relations between the two countries. At present, there are practically no obstacles to the development of relations between the two countries. In this regard, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian has submitted a special report on strengthening relations to the Parliament, and steps are being taken in this direction", Meshkini said.
He said that one of the tasks of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum is to establish relations with Azerbaijan in the oil sphere. Iran’s relations with Azerbaijan in the energy sphere can reach the highest level, this is confirmed by the agreement on strengthening relations in the energy sphere reached by the presidents of the two countries at the meeting in Ashgabat.
