Novak, Sefcovic to discuss in early 2019 Baltic grid exit from Russian energy system

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic at a meeting in Brussels in early 2019 will discuss preparations for disconnecting the Baltic grid from the Russia-controlled BRELL energy ring, the Russian Energy Ministry said Thursday, UrduPoint reported.

"The disconnection of the energy systems of the Baltic countries from synchronous operation with Russian and Belarusian networks will be discussed at a meeting between Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Vice President of the European Commission for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic in Brussels in early 2019," the ministry said.

Leaders of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland agreed in Brussels on March 22nd on the Baltic power grid's synchronization with the continental European network.
