The number of novel coronavirus cases in Russia has risen by 2,774 over the past 24 hours reaching 21,102 in 82 regions, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported.
"A total of 21,102 coronavirus infection cases (+15.1%) have been recorded in 82 regions of Russia. Over the past 24 hours, 224 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, the total number of recoveries is 1,694," TASS cited the crisis center as saying.
New coronavirus cases have been registered in 51 regions, with the bulk of them in Moscow - 1489. Other cases have been reported in the Moscow Region (460), St. Petersburg (121), Komi (97) and the Nizhny Novgorod Region (68).
Twenty-two coronavirus patients have died over the past 24 hours, the total number of fatalities in Russia has reached 170.
Confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus around the world are nearing 2 mln, the Johns Hopkins University, which keeps track of information available from the federal and local authorities, has revealed.
According to its data, 1,919,913 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus globally. Some 119,666 people have died of the disease caused by this virus.
The most challenging situation is now in the United States, with 581,918 coronavirus cases and 23,608 deaths. In Spain, 170,099 people have been infected and 17,756 have died, and in Italy, 159,516 people have a confirmed coronavirus and 20,465 have died. Some 137,000 people have contracted the coronavirus in France, 130,000 in Germany and 89,000 in the United Kingdom.
