The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Ilham Aliyev, met in the framework of the 5th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic States in Astana.
The heads of state discussed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries. The Kazakh leader stressed that bilateral relations are characterized by mutual trust, noting that each visit by Ilham Aliyev to Kazakhstan represents "a new page in the cooperation" between Baku and Astana.
"Even now, when the world economy is going through difficult times, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan conduct an extensive search for new contact points in the trade and economic sphere," Nazarbayev said.
Ilham Aliyev, in his turn, said that he is always happy to visit Kazakhstan and emphasized mutual understanding in relations with Kazakhstan. He also congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate.
