 OIC elects new secretary-general

Former Saudi Minister of Social Affairs Yusuf Bin Ahmed al-Othaimeen was elected the new Secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation during an emergency meeting held in Mecca.

Dr al-Othaymeen expressed deepest thanks and gratitude of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince, on his nomination as Secretary-General of the Organization.

Al-Othaimeen replaced Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar Madani, who officially resigned from the post late last month, reportedly for "health reasons".
