Obama: Assad's power should pass into the hands of a new leader

US President Barack Obama has said during general debates at the UN General Assembly that Assad's power should pass into the hands of a new leader.

"Realism demands to conclude a compromise in order to put an end to the conflict. But realism requires implementation of transitional phase from Assad to a new leader with an inclusive government," said Obama.

According to the American leader, "Assad and his allies cannot satisfy the majority of the population", RIA Novosti reports.
