US President Barack Obama is meeting Angela Merkel in Berlin to talk about Russian sanctions, the fight against Daesh and the future of the EU-US trade agreement in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election victory.
The final leg of the US president’s last trip to Europe began on Wednesday night with a three-hour dinner at Hotel Adlon with the German chancellor, who he has described as “my closest international partner” during his eight-year presidency.
Merkel and Obama’s working meetings will be followed by a press conference and a gala dinner.
