I am very glad and happy that the city where my father was born gave us the opportunity to hold the 9th International Music Festival dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich, the daughter of the legendary musician Olga Rostropovich said, speaking to the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.
"I'm very happy. But another question is that it's a great pity that it was not held for two years, because we had to miss one festival, but I'm actually very glad that I'm participating in it, that the city where my father was born gave us such an opportunity, and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture are supporting our festival," the head of the Rostropovich Music Foundation said.
Noting that the festival has already been held in Paris, New York, Moscow and now it is being held by Baku, the daughter of the great musician stressed that difficulties are everywhere.
The elder daughter of the musician also told about famous orchestras which will perform in Baku this time.
"The Baku spectators will see for the first time the performance of the Dresden Staatskapelle, a unique collective which celebrated its 460th jubilee. It is the oldest orchestra in the world. It was founded in the 16th century. It is a very famous orchestra, and it was worth a lot of effort to bring it to Baku. The same thing was with the Israel Philharmonic, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. They were here several years ago, and now they arrived to this jubilee festival," Olga Rostropovich said.
