Oreshkin gives Russian economic growth rate forecast

Russia's economy is growing, its annual GDP growth will reach 3-3.5% over a couple of years, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin said at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

"Given the demographic challenges that we have faced, its growth should total 3-3.5%. I hope it will happen in a couple of years," the minister said

According to Oreshkin, the Russian government had taken measures to lower the country's dependence on the volatility of oil prices, which resulted in stronger economic performance.

Russia's central bank has kept its forecast for GDP growth in 2018 at 2.1%, in 2019 - 2.2%, in 2020 - 2.3%.
