The crane that caused the tragedy at Mecca's Al-Haram Mosque belongs to a German company controlled by the construction conglomerate Saudi BinLaden Group.
It is currently engaged in the extension of the area of the mosque. By the time of the completion of works, the cost is estimated at $14 billion. It will be able to accommodate up to 2.2 million believers.
