'Ottomans and Armenians: A Study in Counterinsurgency' by US professor Edward J. Erickson to be presented in Moscow

The 'Ottomans and Armenians: A Study in Counterinsurgency' book by US professor of military history Edward J. Erickson will be presented in Moscow on May 31.

This book presents the thesis that the Ottoman government developed an evolving, 35-year, empire-wide array of counterinsurgency practices that varied in scope and execution depending on the strategic importance of the affected provinces.

In 2016, the 'Russian Political Encyclopedia' (ROSSPEN) publishing house has also published a book by the US political scientist, professor emeritus of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Guenter Lewy, titled 'The Armenian Issue in the Ottoman Empire: Myths and Reality'. This book was a translation of a book that was published in the US by the University of Utah Press in 2005 under the title 'The Armenian Massacres in Ottoman Turkey: A Disputed Genocide'.

The 'Turks and Armenians: Nationalism and Conflict in the Ottoman Empire' book by US history professor Justin McCarthy was also published in Russia in 2017.
