Ozgür Ozel announced widespread support for the arrested opposition leader Imamoglu among Turkish citizens. According to Ozel, over 25 million people are ready to vote for the former Istanbul mayor.
The leader of Turkiye’s opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) declared the high electoral potential of the arrested former Istanbul mayor, Ekrem İmamoğlu. According to Ozel, the Turkish opposition has garnered over 25 million votes in support of İmamoğlu as a presidential candidate.
"For the first time, I am reporting that we have garnered 25.1 million votes in support of Imamoglu as a presidential candidate,”
– Ozgür Ozel said.
Istanbul's opposition mayor, İmamoğlu, was arrested in spring 2025. Türkiye’s opposition believes that his case is politically motivated.
