Parliamentary elections kick off in Georgia

Parliamentary elections have started in Georgia. A total of 3,645 polling stations opened in the country at 8am local time (7am Moscow time).

Georgian voters will elect 150 MPs for the term of four years - 77 members on party lists and another 73 in single-seat constituencies.

Voting will finish at 8pm local time (7pm Moscow time), TASS reports.

The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) said earlier that there are over 3.5 eligible voters in Georgia, reminding that the elections will be recognized as valid with any voter turnout.

The CEC will announce the first results of voting tomorrow morning. "We expect that the first preliminary data on the results of voting will be announced at 6am tomorrow. If data arrives earlier, then of course we will spread it before that," the Commission reported.

As observers report, the overall situation is calm, although there are small violations.

In addition, individual cases of inappropriate behavior of observers were registered in Tbilisi.
