Participants of NAM Baku Conference visit liberated territories

The visit of the participants of the Baku Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan began on July 2.

The two-day Baku conference entitled ”Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting peace and sustainable development" was held in the Azerbaijani capital on June 30-July 1. Addressing the participants, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the republic will continue to fight against injustice, violation of international law, and a selective approach to various conflicts and discrimination.

The Baku conference was attended by parliamentary delegations from more than 40 countries and representatives of 9 international parliamentary organizations. The delegations included chairmen of the 15 parliaments.

As a result of the conference, the chairman of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement was elected - the chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, the deputy chairmen of the Parliamentary Network, the logo and the flag were approved. “I am sure that the issues reflected in the Baku Declaration will be successfully implemented. Further development of the Parliamentary Network will help us move to a new stage, our cooperation will expand,” Sahiba Gafarova said, addressing the participants.

Today, the delegates are visiting the cities of Fizuli and Shusha, getting acquainted with the construction and improvement work being carried out in the liberated territories.

The participants of the Baku conference have already visited the Fuzuli International Airport and examined the ruins of the city. In Shusha, the members of the delegation will get acquainted with historical sights and the restoration process of the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.
