Pashinyan: Armenia has unlimited potential for export of livestock products

Armenia has unlimited potential for export of livestock products, the republic's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

According to him, the agricultural sector has the potential for development in various directions, including intensive agriculture and greenhouse economy. The Armenian PM said that animal husbandry should be aimed at export and pointed to the need of increasing the number of cows and sheep.

"All monopolies in Armenia no longer exist and there are no artificial obstacles. We are working to form mechanisms for exports of our produces to the Middle East, Iran and other countries," ARKA cited Pashinyan as saying.

He also pointed to the need of using the entire agricultural potential, including food industry and production of wine and brandy. "Wine-making is undergoing serious development today, and we should help the sector to conquer new markets," the PM said.

According to Pashinyan , the problem lies in the fact that wine production volume is not large enough today and expressed hope for its growth.

"I think that the banking system should render serious assistance to the agricultural sector, and we and the Central Bank are constantly discussing the possibility of lowering loan interest rates," he added.
